I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I graduated from Regent University with a degree in Community Counseling in 2002. I have worked in various settings in the mental health field in the tidewater area including schools and homes with children and families. I have worked in private practice since 2012 in Virginia Beach and Norfolk.
I work with a wide range of clients ranging from age 6- 60+, both individually and with families. My therapeutic approach includes cognitive-behavioral strategies, psychodynamic processes and warmth. Specific treatments I provide are EMDR, Neurofeedback, IFS (Internal Family Systems), and CBT, as well as supportive therapies. Additionally, I use the Enneagram personality type system to increase self-awareness and deepen understanding of others. Areas of practice include, but are not limited to: managing difficult emotions and behaviors, trauma recovery, ADHD, anxiety, depression, improving relationships, communication skills, and parenting.
My objectives for all my clients are to have an improved relationship with themselves and others, more effective decision-making, better communication with others, and healthy general day-to-day functioning with self-awareness, self-management, and self-accountability.
I like to emphasize possibilities and growth, not problems. It is my hope that in working together you feel understood, supported, encouraged, empowered, and challenged to move towards the life you really want.
